Hi, my name is Cheryl Cali and we are out here at the Texas state capitol distributing some information for #NotAVictim concerning women being the victims of abortion.
And I’m Sonya; I joined Cheryl here today with some other ladies and we had some materials that were provided to bring to the legislators during the session, as there’s a number of bills that will be presented
We’re here to support the total and complete abolition of human abortion with no exception. We came today to distribute literature because one of the objections to this bill of abolition, which would provide equal protection for all children, is that women are victims and that there shouldn’t be a penalty for them for participating in abortion, also known as either child sacrifice or abortion by murder.
Yeah. So when I was 15 years old I went into a Planned Parenthood in Houston and I was pregnant with a child and I went in and I had that child killed by abortion. And the pro-life movement calls me a victim so I really want to address that today. What I did that day when I went into the clinic was not illegal. There is no penalty for it. I’m just called the victim of that when my child was the real victim.
When I was 15 years old I went into a Planned Parenthood . . . The truth is that I’m not the real victim. My child is the one that is a victim.
Yes, I’m here with Cheryl also because when I was 18 in high school, because of the legislation that was in place that’s encouraging society to promote abortion, when I found myself in a situation where I was trying to decide what to do, these laws that are in place did not restrain anyone from coming together to conspire to slay an innocent child.
The child of my womb was innocent and, because it’s sin in my heart, I decided to love myself instead of my child, and I took the advice of those around me, and I participated in child sacrifice. I took the money, I went to the place of – all around us there’s places that people know, they can look in the yellow pages and can go and have their child’s life exterminated. So I participated in that, and I knew what I was doing. I knew I was pregnant, it meant that I was with child and I was a mother of an unborn child that was newly developing inside my womb.
And you know, since the – so that’s been many years for me and I’m almost 50 now, so a multitude of pro-life regulations have been passed since I did that, but it’s still legal for me today to do the same thing I did when I was 15. I can still walk into an abortion clinic today and pay to have my child murdered. All I have to do is look at a picture of the child and make sure that that’s the person that I want to kill, and if I live over 100 miles away, then I don’t have to wait 24 hours to decide to kill that child, I can go ahead and do it the same day, same day service. So if I’m the victim of abortion and abortion hurts women, then these regulations that have been passed don’t do anything to prevent me from being a victim. But the truth is that I’m not the real victim. My child is the one that is a victim. And every year in Texas over 55,000 babies are murdered by abortion. And those are the real victims. The persons who seek to kill them are not the ones that are the actual victims.
And this is something that – I agree with Cheryl, my child was the victim. If any way that we were victimized, again, it’s by these laws that allow us and encourage us and perpetuate this abortion within our land. And so she talked about how we’re seen as the victim. The abortionist is often – when these bills come forward to provide equal protection for all children, the objection is often that women have never been prosecuted and that, because they’re victims, that the abortionist is the one that should be prosecuted. They [pro-life orgs/legislators] say that we don’t want women – we should be leading women down a path to healing, not to a path of punishment.
There’s a couple of thoughts there, but one of them is that the abortionist – it’s not like I’m walking down the sidewalk minding my business, with child, just got my positive pregnancy test, and an abortionist jumps out of the bushes and forces me to the ground and rips the baby out of my womb without my consent, making me a victim. I took the money from the father who rejected me and the child, and I took the advice of school counselors and a friend drove me, and everyone knew where to go to take care of what was considered a problem, not a child. It’s been dehumanized.
I took that blood money in my hand and I walked in, I made the appointment – it wasn’t the same day, I had days to think about it, and I laid on that table and allowed my child to be sucked out of my womb by vacuum aspiration into bloody bits and parts. That baby was a victim.
When we talk about, women having, you know, this compassion, or that they need to be taken to healing, we don’t do this with anyone else. So a man is not morally able to kill the child in my womb or anyone else’s child. I as a woman cannot go and destroy the child in another woman’s womb. But if I want to destroy the child in my own womb, I’m allowed to do this, and without consequence under the current laws.
The idea that I should only be taken on paths of healing and compassion and not any kind of punishment is basically having no mercy on the actual victim of the murder by abortion, and there’s no equal protection or justice for them from their mothers who are seeking to end – to terminate their lives and essentially play God.
So it’s misdirected, in that, there is compassion for women, there is mercy, but it’s only found when we want to repent of our sin of murder before Almighty God and receive the gift of grace that He’s given us and offered us through Christ Jesus.

And calling us the victim, referring to women as the victims, it really enables us to hold onto guilt, and it deceives us by telling us that that guilt or remorse that we feel, because we know in our consciences that what we did was wrong, we know that we are – we know that it’s a child and we know that we are not to kill our children, we know that, when there’s life in our womb, we instinctively know as human beings that we’re to nurture and protect that. We know what we did is wrong.
When we’re called victims and we’re offered this temporal sort of guilt or remorse or told things like that we should forgive ourselves, it’s not something that’s possible. There’s only healing – this is saying peace, peace, when there is no peace, just like the book of Isaiah tells us. There’s only healing found in Jesus Christ.
The blood of your child that was murdered by abortion cannot atone for sin. We cannot pay for our own sin. It takes that perfect God-man that lived in our place without sin, took sin on Himself, and hung on the cross to cleanse us with His atoning blood. That will never come through forgiving ourselves or through feeling guilty or feeling remorse. It will not come through being a victim. It will only come through repentance, through confessing what we know we did and turning to Christ for forgiveness of that. He’s the only One that can really free our consciences from the burden that they’re put under by murdering our own child. And it is a burden, it is painful, so we don’t say these things to say, like, it’s not painful, or women don’t have any feelings about it, it is a burden, because we know the crime that we committed against God and against our child.
Yes, there’s so much about that because we hear, you need to forgive yourself, or just let it go, but God doesn’t let it go. The blood cries out to Him, like God is the One Who has created that life in the womb, he’s there actively knitting it together, He knit me together in my mother’s womb, and we’re going into the very place of the incarnation of God in Christ into the womb, where He’s actively knitting a life together according to His plans and purposes, and we’re destroying that, we’re defiling that image of God, and we profane the name of God through this destruction.
This idea that we could forgive ourselves, or that we need to just let it go, really continues to dehumanize them even more and actually minimizes the active murder by abortion. And leaving us as victims who just need to do this leaves us in a place of bondage, and maybe regret, but never truly being set free from the penalty and the power of sin, which only comes through Christ. We cannot release ourselves from the guilt that we have, that we stand before a holy God.
We hear, you need to forgive yourself, or just let it go, but God doesn’t let it go. The blood cries out to Him … We cannot release ourselves from the guilt that we have, that we stand before a holy God.
Right, absolutely. If we truly are the victims, and we really are, as a society, of the belief that women are the true victim in abortion, then why can we go have an abortion today? If we truly believe that this is something harmful, that it not only kills the baby but it hurts the real victims, which are the women, then why is it still an option that is left on the table? Why is it continually regulated and kept legal so that we can continue to victimize ourselves? That wouldn’t make sense if we really believe that we’re the victims of something.
Yes, this is true, and what we see happening is, as we continue to collectively excuse sin of murder by abortion through legislation that regulates murder and refuses to provide equal protection for all children, is that we in this victimhood, this idea of victimhood, in this collective suppressing of the truth and unrighteousness of the sin of murder by abortion, is, what we’re doing is we end up keeping up sin upon sin for the day of judgment.
What we see now is we have this, I don’t know what the word is, but we have this cacophony of confusion and sounds of, on the one hand, women who are victims and it’s as if the abortion has violated them in some way against their will, to women who are proud, and who shout out their abortions, they have no shame, they don’t claim any regret and they, as a matter of fact, can’t even blush.
The problem is, in between all of this focus on women who are either victims or women who are proud of their abortions, is that the actual innocent victim of the crime is being eclipsed. We’re not seeing who’s really the one here that’s needing protection and that is the innocent pre-born children that are being given over to murder by abortion under these regulatory schemes.
You know, we hear much about how the pro-life industry, the movement, the leaders, the legislators are winning, and all these great laws that are passed, but here at this very capitol, just a couple years ago I remember there was a lot of discussion about a bill called the Dismemberment Ban. Most people think, when you hear Dismemberment Ban, that means that they’re going to ban the procedure for dismemberment. However the author himself, in the very intent of the bill, when I read the bill, said that this bill was not going to stop a woman from having an abortion, it simply required that the dismemberment did not happen on a live baby. And this is called pro-life legislation.
The baby had to have its life taken through a different variety of means, I don’t know what means all they would use, there’s injections to kill babies, there’s cutting an umbilical cord, there’s all kinds of barbaric, vile things that can happen, but the bill was to just say that it couldn’t happen on a live baby. It was nothing to try to prevent anyone from killing that child in the womb. They defended that in court as if this was a good bill and promoted it as a winning strategy.
Now the one who once murdered innocent children now is a voice for them, because God says that we are to speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves, to be a voice for the voiceless. They can’t – they can’t – they have silent screams in the womb, no one can hear them, so we’re here today to speak for them, and to come and to speak to legislators and let them know we don’t want to be put out in front like some sort of shield or protection from passing laws that would give us equal protection and allowing babies to continue to be murdered in this nation.
Yeah, I think just the last thing I would want to say is that we will not be deterred. We are taking a stand for equal justice and requesting our legislators to write bills of equal justice and let them know that when they do that they have our support and they have our prayers. But we won’t settle for anything less, that if we continue to have regulations or write laws that permit any babies to be killed, whether they’re six weeks or 12 weeks or 20 weeks, or whether they have a heartbeat, or whether they have Down’s syndrome, we will not accept that. We want the total immediate abolition of abortion.
We will not be deterred. We are taking a stand for equal justice and requesting our legislators to write bills of equal justice and let them know that when they do that they have our support and they have our prayers. But we won’t settle for anything less..
We are known by the common term of post-abortive women, but we are women who are repentant murderers redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ. We are abolitionists. We believe in total and complete abolition of abortion, protection, equal protection, for all humans without exception, just as we would want for ourselves, loving our neighbors, and we will not be deterred, we will continue to come, and we desire to see God glorified in the earth, for His heart to be expressed here in the Capitol.
I think the last thought I have is that, currently if you kill a child that’s six months old, two years old, somebody takes their life, they have protection under the law. So my question to you is how long are women going to continue? How far will this victimhood go? Will this victimhood continue if they pass laws to say that women have the right, when their newborns are there in the hospital or the birthing center, they’ve just given birth, to have opportunity to consider whether this child should be able to live or not?
The same things that are used to justify killing babies that are in the womb apply the same on the other side of the birth canal, there’s no difference. We’re already seeing people talking about this happening.Will our response be to just allow women, for the same reasons that we give today, as victims, to kill their babies? Will our response to that be to continue to victimize them and to have no penalties and to tell them that really they just need to have healing for what they’ve done to their born children?
There is healing only alone in the Lord Jesus Christ, and mercy. We have to turn to Him, though, and repent. God’s Word tells us that if we cover our sin we will not prosper, but if we confess our sins and we forsake them, then we will find mercy, there’s only mercy in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I don’t want to see this continue on to where born children are – they’re also going to be murdered and we’re still going to be a victim. So ask yourself, how far is this going to go?

My question to you is: how long are we going to allow this victimhood? How far is victimhood going to go? Really think of the implications of what we have today, of calling women a victim when they take the life of their child. These equal protection laws would not only apply to women, they do apply to women because right now they’re the only ones that have an exception to do this, but it will apply to everyone who participates in murder by abortion. We’re talking fathers of the children, family members, grandparents, friends, neighbors, people you don’t even know, school counselors, everyone, because abortion will no longer be permitted for anyone.
We are women who are repentant murderers redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ. We are abolitionists. We believe in total and complete abolition of abortion, equal protection for all humans without exception, just as we would want for ourselves, loving our neighbors, and we will not be deterred.
Just with any other – as it is with any other type of homicide, whenever you’re a co-conspirator to commit homicide, you will be dealt with in the justice system and that’s what we’re asking for.
As we watch, since 1973, what’s happened? We’ve gone from women who maybe, you know, it was something shameful and we tried to hide in the dark with it. Abortion should be in the dark, abortion should be in a back alley, abortion is evil and wicked and God abhors it. He doesn’t just hate it, He abhors it.
What we see happening from 1973 until now, with abortion, we’re seeing what the Word says. It says that when the sentence of a crime is not speedily executed, the hearts of men become fully set on doing evil.
What we see today in #NotAVictim, and which maybe our legislators don’t realize because they may not be in the places where actively aborting women are today (compared to the pregnancy centers that we hear about that are helping women that are maybe just needing some help, they find themselves wanting to have the baby but they’re not sure what they’re going to do), what we see today, is that that evil has just poured out, it’s pouring out because there’s no restraint.
So we’re calling on all women and anyone who’s repented of this: men, women, family members, to rise up, to come out and join us, and to call for equal protection for our pre-born neighbors.
